Annie Faye Vess

Annie Faye Vess, 95, of Marion passed away at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center in Black Mountain on Thursday, May 9, 2024.

Born in McDowell County on April 30, 1929, Annie was the daughter of the late James Edward Vess and Mary Elizabeth Jolly Vess. Also preceding were siblings Clyde Vess (Vena), Ruby Vess, Gladys Allison (Donald), and her twin sister Fannie Mae Vess. 

Annie was a member of East Marion Community Church. Some of her enjoyments were sewing, crocheting and working jigsaw puzzles. She loved being outdoors and working in her yard. Annie was a very independent woman and was blessed to be able to stay at home up until the last two months of her life.

Surviving Annie are her nieces and nephew, Dottie Faris, Carolyn Early (Douglas), Tim Allison (Rita Sue), Debbie Betz (Gil) and Yvonne Hunter (Larry) along with several great and great-great nieces and nephews.  

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 at East Marion Community Church at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Andrew Walker officiating. The family will have a casual gathering of friends prior to the service at the church from 2:30 until 3:00. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request all donation be made to East Marion Community Church @ 660 Baldwin Ave., Marion, NC 28752. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mountain Ridge Wellness and all of her friends and neighbors who helped in her care.
