Mrs. Ann McCurdy Ledbetter, age 94, passed away from this life on Thursday, March 09, 2017 at Rose Hill Retirement Community following a brief illness. The daughter of the late J.R. and Carrie McCurdy, she was born August 18, 1922 in LaFayette, Georgia. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Otis Manning Ledbetter.
Mrs. Ledbetter spent most of her working years serving as the receptionist at Marion Manufacturing Company. She also was a proud volunteer for over 40 years at the McDowell Hospital. Her first love was the First United Methodist Church of Marion where she was a member for 62 years. She served as Sunday school teacher, a member of the choir; and was the flower coordinator.
She is survived by her son, Keith Ledbetter and his wife, Katherine of Spruce Pine; one daughter, Kim Medford and her husband, Chris of Salisbury; one brother, Bill McCurdy and his wife, Nelda of Rossville, Georgia; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Ann’s life will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Marion with Pastor Warren Owens officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor.
