Angelo Castro, Jr., 60, of Nebo, NC, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024, at his residence.
Angelo was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 15, 1963, to the late Blanca Edy Rivera and Angelo Castro, Sr. He was married to his wife of 34 years, Heidi R. Koch-Castro. Angelo was a train operator for the New York City Transit Authority. He was a 9/11 survivor and was heavily involved with the heroic rescue operations. For many years following the attack, Angelo courageously fought the respiratory effects of the aftermath. He was a member of the TWU Local 100. For eleven years, Angelo was an At Risk Teens Advocate. His contributions to youth have left a positive impact on the lives of many people. He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Jimmie Johnson. Most of all, Angelo loved and adored his family. He will always be remembered for spreading his love to all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Angelo was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Joseph Castro-Turner; and a brother, Enrique Castro.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Heidi Koch-Castro; three children, Jessica Merrie Castro (Tyler Bostic), Samantha Jo Castro, and Brianna Joi Castro; and two grandchildren, Emilia Lenora Bostic and Oliver Rodney Bostic.
The family will receive friends to honor Angelo’s memory on Tuesday May 14, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm in the Stateroom of Beam Funeral Service.
