Angelina Fincher Esmaili

June 23, 1944 — October 28, 2024

Nebo, NC

Angelina Fincher Esmaili gained her angel wings on October 28, 2024 after a long battle with late stage Parkinsons disease.

Angelina, born June 23, 1944 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina to the late Furman Fincher and Dorothy Evelyn Wells Fincher. She was one of 12 siblings.

Angelina was a spitfire of a woman. Never giving up without a fight. Although her demeanor was fierce and sassy, she was also the most generous, giving woman to all those she encountered. She was never afraid to strike up a conversation with someone and would give the shirt off her back to anyone that asked. Angelina was a natural caregiver, assuming many roles in her lifetime as a compassionate caretaker prioritizing her patients’ comfort and care. She was an outstanding seamstress, crafting beautiful handmade quilts, and stunning detailed cross-stitched pieces. Angelina loved a good book and would often share her collection with others to spread the magic. She loved music, especially Elvis and Johnny Cash. Angelina had beautiful handwriting and took pride in the lost art of penmanship. Angelina lived in many places throughout her life spreading her roots, often spending as much time as she could close to her grandchildren; but home was always North Carolina. She loved her home state, always boasting about southern hospitality, deeming that no one did it better than North Carolina, and she spread that energy wherever she went. Of all the things she loved, she adored nothing more than her family and being a “Granny”. Her children, grandchildren, and great children were often the topic of any discussion she had. She was extremely proud of them and took every opportunity to share stories about them with others.

Angelina is preceded in death by her brother, Harold Dean Fincher, and a sister, Paulette Fincher. Surviving Angelina are her two children, Linda (Joel) and Michael McCarter; two sisters, Barbara Couch of Lancaster SC, and Ann Sonnthe of Apopha FL; seven brothers, Jerry Fincher (Sylvia) of Eastover NC, Larry Fincher (Elizabeth) of Advance NC, Ronald “Ron” Fincher (Linda) of Fayetteville AR, William Fincher (Patty) of Nebo NC, Paul Fincher of Morganton NC, Terry Fincher (Michelle) of Greensboro NC, and her twin brother, Alan Fincher (Melodi) of Marion NC; two beloved grandchildren, Ashley Nichole Bratke (Eddie) of Stansbury Park UT and Mathew Reader (Kasara) of Peoria AZ; and five highly adored great grandchildren, Nolan Remington, Avery Remington, Brooklyn Reader, and Clair and Hallie Reader, along with a host of nieces and nephews. Angelina was loved by many, and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of McDowell County. A family service will be held at a later date.
