Alma Jean Evans

Alma Jean Evans, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2019 at The Mitchell House in Spruce Pine, North Carolina. Born July 17, 1933 to Martha Duncan Evans and Willie Lee Evans.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Hazel Evans Reel and husband LD; her brother Lonnie Evans and wife Mary Burchel Evans; special friend and roommate Mary Magdlean Rowland who passed July 3, 2019. They were two peas in a pod.

Alma was a lifelong member of East Marion Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was treasurer for many years. She was a graduate of Marion High. She worked at Belk Broome in Marion until their closing. Then at Roses and BC Moore’s until her retirement at which time she took care of her mother until her passing. Alma loved her church, her family and chocolate.

Left to cherish her memory are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at McDowell Memorial Park with Reverend Bruce Ward officiating.
