Alice Mae Horne Logan, 78, of Marion, left this earthly life on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Autumn Care of Marion.
She was born in Rutherford County on April 15, 1945 to the late William Alfred Horne and Rosie Littlejohn Horne. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Leo Logan, Jr., who passed in 2013; and her brother and sister-in-law, Rayford Alfred Horne, Sr. and Deborah Jean Horne.
Alice worked for a number of years at First Citizens Bank in Marion. As a young woman, she was a faithful member of Wells Spring United Methodist Church in Forest City until her marriage to Leo Logan, Jr. of Marion when she joined Addies Chapel United Methodist Church. Her life revolved around her Lord and her church. She was a member of the Gospel Choir, and she had formerly served as the church Secretary and Sunday School Superintendent. She also played piano as part of the music ministry of Addies Chapel. She worked tirelessly in the church until her health declined. Alice enjoyed crafting, and she was very creative. Her family meant a lot to her as well. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband, and she was a devoted caregiver to him and to her parents in their final years. She enjoyed times spent in Pittsboro, NC with family and a special nephew, Robert Logan. Time with family and friends were her biggest joy, but just as special were her times spent working at Addies Chapel.
She is survived by her daughter, Yvette Logan; and nieces and nephews, Yolanda Horne, Timothy Wells, Teddy Horne (Evelyn), Rayford Horne, Jr. (Sarah), and Roderick Horne (Antasia); special niece, Ashley Chambers Davis; and special to the family, Zhanya Fowler.
A service in celebration of Alice’s life will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Addies Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Walter Pegues officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the church.
