Alice Jane Burnette Lytle, 85, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, February 09, 2021 at her home.
She was born in McDowell County on May 24, 1935 to the late Frank Burnette, Sr. and Julia Boyce Burnette.
Jane worked as a Head Start teacher for 17 years. A great provider, she also worked as a laborer for 10 years and always took summers off to take care of her children. She was a dedicated housewife and was married for over 50 years to the late Curl Lytle. She had a bright personality and was always kind and smiling. A member of Catawba View Missionary Baptist Church, she was involved in the church choir and once served as secretary and superintendent.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two sons, Danny Lytle and James Calvin Lytle; and 11 siblings.
Survivors include a son, Frank “Eric” Lytle (Edie); three grandchildren, Erica Genae Lightfoot, Andrea Lytle, and Julian Lytle; five great grandchildren, Imani, Nia, Arayah, and Sharif Muhammad, and Genesis Lightfoot; and two siblings, William “Scoop” Burnette and Crese Franklin.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Catawba View Missionary Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
