Ada Mae Haynes Effler Hester

Ada Mae Hester, 79, of Marion, NC, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior in the early morning of Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Mission McDowell Hospital.

Ada was born in McDowell County, NC, on December 25, 1945, to the late Lillie Mae Leakey and Benjamin Boyd Haynes. She was married to the late Hershel “Dean” Effler and then to the late David Hester, Sr. Ada was an active member of Parkers Chapel Church, with whom she enjoyed giving herself doing the Lord’s work. She had a special place in her heart for her animals and loved to travel. She loved the mountains and enjoyed gardening, painting, jigsaw puzzles, and driving fast cars, especially Mustangs. Most of all, Ada loved the Lord and loved her family. She will always be remembered and greatly missed.

In addition to her husbands and parents, Ada was preceded in death by her twin sister, Jessie Faye Haynes.

She is survived by a sister, Lois Jean Blakely (Randall); a brother, Boyd Haynes, Jr. (Beverly); a step son, David Hester, Jr. (Jessica); a step daughter, Vanessa Hester; two step grandchildren; a special niece, Samantha Parrow (Louis); four nephews, Jason Effler (Ann), Marc Lamb (Ginny), Chris Lamb (Hillary), and Josh Haynes (Bobbie); five great nieces, Bridget Randolph (Dylan), Faith Parrow, Madison Lamb, Abby Haynes, and Emma Haynes; five great nephews, Daylen Parrow, Noah Lamb, Carter Lamb, Xavier Lamb, and William Haynes; and a great-great nephew, Rylen Todd.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Pastor Victor Worley will officiate. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
